Track and trace is a key challenge for pharmaceutical supply chains. In this last roundtable for the year, we look at some great track and trace success stories and explore some blockchain early successes that are already appearing in our community.


Increasingly, pharmaceutical companies are putting blockchain to the test in order to track and trace the drugs they manufacture and ship. In fact, according to USA's Healthcare Weekly, blockchain is “getting massive attention” in health care, with 40% of industry executives reporting that it is in their top five priorities.


We'll table how one company is working to achieve pharmaceutical supply chain precision utilising a blockchain startup solution for tracking and managing of prescription medication through the supply chain while preventing misuse.


Other countries are seeing some success. Ugandan government is tracing counterfeit drugs within the country. The blockchain-based platform enables the recording of prescription medication, thus identifying counterfeit drugs and preventing their distribution in the pharmaceutical supply chain. United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Health and Prevention also launched a blockchain system for recording and sharing health care data.

Following on from the series of Sustainable & Ethical Procurement Round tables held around the country for ASCI members in June 2019, this two hour briefing drills down deeply into one of the common challenges which was identified across the supply chain community.


Sustainability and ethical trade are increasingly business critical topics for any board room and are now directly impacting consumer buying behaviour. Today consumers are encouraging brands to be more vocal about sharing information and being transparent.
