Today's guest on Conversations is nationally-acclaimed documentarian Rick Quan, who was on the phone from Honolulu. His latest project focuses on one of the first Chinese American lawyers in American history, an extraordinary man who tenaciously spent his life battling racist immigration laws, emerged to become National President of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance and helped found the New Chinatown in Los Angeles. His name? Y.C. Hong. You'll also hear about upcoming invited guests, such as Professor Ken Ruoff of Portland State University Oregon and his new book Japan's Imperial House in the Postwar Era 1945-2019 and Dr. Adriana Proser of the Asia Society New York City, who curated its newest exhibition 'The Art of Impermanence: Japanese Works from the John C. Weber Collection and Mr. and Mrs. Jon D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection' that is open to the public February 11, 2020 - April 26, 2020. Listeners will also hear about how they will be able to join me on enriching cultural excursions to this exhibit and others now and in the future.
