The Joy of Running, Cooking & Advocating ~ Guest Chris Linder

Everyday Joy with Candace Mau Radio Show Chris Linder is a woman of many talents and constantly pushing the limits of what is possible. The calm presence she is in all areas of her life seems to magnify her joy. Chris coaches, cooks and runs with the best of them and she's here to chat with us! Chris Linder: In my day (and sometimes evening!) job, I am a professor of higher education. I have been a full-time faculty member for the past eight years and I love my work. I teach and research about equity and inclusion on college campuses, with a specific focus on campus sexual violence. I strive to educate people about injustice and help them see their power to make change in their circles of influence. I also love the great outdoors. I camp, trail run, ski, mountain bike, stand-up paddle board, and anything else that gets me outside! This summer, I trained for and completed my first 100-mile trail run and I bought a Sprinter van that I am converting to a camper. Finally, I also love to cook. I have been cooking with my mom and grandmas since I was a small child. My family taught me a lot about cooking, and even though we now have vastly different tastes in food, I still love to cook and credit them with my sense of adventure in the kitchen. I also love to cook with my niece, Ava, and have been doing so since she was about 18 months old. I love to try new things and the kitchen is my creative outlet. Through my midwestern upbringing, I learned to show love and care for people through food. One of my favorite traditions growing up is that every year, no matter how little money we had, my mom always made it a priority for us to make holiday treats for our teachers and other caregivers. This is a tradition I continue to this day.    [email protected]    https://www.thejoyfultrailrunner.com ~ More About Everyday Joy ~  At our core, our most basic essence, there is Joy.
