You had your rats, your tough guys, your skilled guys and one thing was for sure ; if you were going to take liberties, you better be able to face the music. This made it very exciting to attend a game. You know it was going to be electric if an opposing pest was coming to town and especially if he had recently taken a cheap shot against your team. This created rivalries. Who can forget Tucker getting elbowed by Kovalev or Lucic beating the crap out of Komisarek? Watching games with your friends would start arguments and get people talking. Rules have made it impossible for some players to show their toughness and let their personalities shine through. The NHL has become all about skill and in my opinion very boring.
